Red Dot Ball Programme

Red dot ball is the first stage in Bharat Tennis Academy’s kid tennis programme where we provide an interactive and fun approach to tennis. Red dot ball is played on a reduced court size of 36 feet with smaller racquets with a size of up to 23’’ and a net size of 2’9’’ at the centre. Red dot ball is played with red foam or felt balls that are used in this stage, these red foam balls bounce lower and move slowly through the air hence easy to control the ball for the youngest player as a beginner.

You might be wondering what’s the deal with different balls and different sizes of the court.

With the properly sized court, ball and other tennis equipment, the child learns strong court positioning, developing serve and beginning point play, otherwise, it will be more challenging to develop these skills with the improperly sized court with a higher compressed ball which will bounce and move faster making difficult to play for a child who is just a beginner.

Why to use red foam balls?

As a beginner there are several advantages to playing with red foam balls as they are low-compressed tennis balls, these balls are the slowest moving and lowest bouncing balls and give players a chance to set up and take a good swing at the ball with a reduced 75% ball speed than the standard tennis ball. Low-compressed balls help in learning rallying (the back-and-forth movement of the ball between two players), controlling the ball, and receiving the ball.

What you will learn in the red dot ball program?

Kids will learn well- balance position while hitting the ball and while throwing and catching the ball, half-open stance, holding the racquet professionally, initiating shoulder movement, hitting basic strokes like forehand and backhand grip, overhead, serve and volley they will also learn to begin point play and rally in the red dot ball program.

Coaches, at Bharat Tennis Academy, use various models, such as mini-tennis, interactive games, skill-building exercises, and many more, to maintain children’s interest. As the coaches use very easy-to-understand language to instruct kids aged 5 to 8, and the continuous positivity will result in creating a positive environment for all the children. All these steps help us in motivating kids to be introduced to lawn tennis and get better at it. Lastly, if you wish to introduce your child to the world of tennis, red ball tennis is your perfect choice as a first step in the ladder to achieve excellence.
